Simple car maintenance records to keep
The dates, mileage and documents that make a maintenance history useful.
A maintenance record helps you remember what was done, when it happened and what may need attention next. It does not need to be complicated.
For every job, record four things
- The date.
- The vehicle mileage.
- The work completed.
- The receipt or supporting document.
Include routine and unexpected work
Log annual servicing, oil and filter changes, tyres, brakes, batteries, repairs and MOT advisories. If a garage suggests future work, add a note with a target date or mileage.
Use the history
Review the record before a service, a long journey or selling the car. It gives you and the next owner a clearer account of how the vehicle has been looked after.
